LinkedIn Groups

I have joined a couple of designer groups on linked in. I receive emails notifying me of activity from the group. There are a lot of different posts and comments from the group related to being a designer, tools designers use, etc. Some are useful posts but for the most part I have little time to read them. What else is new…

So I sent a resume to the Creative Group, a creative talent placement agency. I wasn’t really sure how these places work or what I should expect… all of a sudden it occured to me that I should post a question on my linked in groups. I asked whether anyone has ever worked with these types of agencies and what should I expect. To my suprise I received a lot of very useful comments from much more experienced designers than myself. It made me realize how useful LinkedIn is to my business and career. Also, never be afraid to try something new… it helps you grow.

Social Network Clutter

I am somewhat new to social networks on the web. I have accounts with LinkedIn and Facebook. So far they have not provided me with lots of useful networking help but maybe they will in the future. Maybe they are helping with my search engine ranking… hard to say.

I have been able to reconnect with old friends and keep in touch much easier with family. And I must say it is a bit addictive once you get started. I have had a lot of fun looking at friends pictures and reading about the latest happenings in their lives. Truthfully, I don’t have time to make much more use of these networks… all I can hope for is that they help organize my life, not clutter it.

Let’s Blog

Well, I was going to have to do this sooner or later. Yes, this is my very first blog. I have read many and have recommended them to my clients, but never have I written my own. I figure I better dive in and see what these things can do.
